Like so many other charities, CAFOD has suffered a serious shortfall in income during this year, at the same time as it is facing even more demands on its services overseas due to the pandemic.
Fast Days remain one of CAFOD’s main sources of income but the 2020 Lent Fast Day took place just as churches and schools were closing for lockdown in March and collections were down by about two-thirds. Harvest Fast Day this Friday is also going to be a challenge, so CAFOD is appealing for as much support as possible not only through the normal collection envelopes but also online at cafod.org.uk/give or via text to 70085.
In addition, because many people won’t hear about the Fast Day appeal in church, CAFOD are trying to increase support and awareness by offering something different this time – a Harvest Like No Other – with a whole series of online events.

Join our exclusive dialogue with CAFOD’s International Programme staff to hear about how coronavirus is affecting some of the most disadvantaged communities around the world.

Family Fast Day Eucharistic Celebration
All are welcome to join together in solidarity and prayer with Rt Rev Peter Brignall Bishop of Wrexham celebrating the Eucharist from St Mary’s Cathedral, Wrexham.
Saturday 10 October, 12pm
Global Family Food event
Join our CAFOD's Global Family Food Event, have fun, eat some delicious food, and raise funds to transform the lives of people in poverty. There will be a chance to share recipes and eat together as well as hear about our work in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic around the world.

‘Harvest Like No Other’ Quiz
Join many other supporters at our 'Harvest Like No Other' Quiz, have fun, get competitive, and raise funds to support our brothers and sisters in need around the world. CAFOD’s Programme Coordinator for South Sudan, Thomas Delamere will be our Quiz Master and will tell us about CAFOD’s work in South Sudan.

Healing the World: An evening of prayer and reflection with Bishop John Arnold
Join us for an hour of prayer and reflection with Rt Rev John Arnold Bishop of Salford and Chair of CAFOD’s Board of Trustees, in the last of our ‘Harvest like no other’ events. Bishop John will reflect on the lessons of Pope Francis’ new catechesis, Healing the World, and consider the significance of the highly anticipated new encyclical, Fratelli Tutti, for our global family.
